Black Country
Saddlery is, in our opinion, one of the finest saddlery companies today.
The quality
of their saddles is superb, their customer service is excellent, and they
are just plain nice folks! They have listened and responded to customer
feedback which has led to some very useful innovations in their saddles.
The flocking in the panels is a soft, resilient Jacobs wool which allows
the saddles to break in quickly to the horse’s back. And helps to wick sweat and
“breathes” to keep the horse’s back cool.
They have many different options and leathers available on their saddles,
most at no extra charge. Turn around time is remarkably short - usually under
4 weeks.
Options include:
wither gussets , upswept panels , the drop panel, the K panel, gusseted
panel, and tree widths done to template.

Rider's comments: If all the folks who lean more towards or own a
County saddle (or the countless others on the market today) tried a Black
Country and experienced the outstanding customer service that goes along
with them, they'd quickly be singing the praises for both.
Trumbull Mountain EquinoxII- We
are proud to present our very own saddle! One of our biggest fitting
challenges has been the wide horse. Many of our customers are endurance
riders and pleasure riders who want a comfortable, secure saddle that
doesn’t roll around on a ‘plus sized’ horses! We designed this saddle with
the Arabians, Morgans, Draft Breeds, Warmbloods, Fjords, and Quarter
Horses in mind. Everyone in our shop had a hand in the design of this
saddle. Nancy, our endurance specialist, owns Arabs. Edie rides a pretty
round Morgan Horse. Kitt has a giant Hanoverian mare who really objects to
having her shoulders pinched. We put our heads together with the help of Black Country
and we created a saddle that we are very
happy with. To start with, the Panels are made of Serge. This is a woven
fabric that is soft and breathes. It allows a much quicker break in, and
dissipates heat much better than leather. The panels are stuffed with a
low profile and a really wide gullet to allow the saddle to ‘sit down’
rather then perch up in the air. This saddle offers both a wide fit for
the horse as well as a narrow twist for the rider because of a specially
designed panel with a narrow ‘waist’. The girth billets come from the
front and rear corners of the saddle to keep it from rocking. The flap is
a ‘mono flap’ design, because we didn’t think we needed any more thickness
under the leg. The thigh block offers security without pressure on the
rider’s knee. To top it off, the leather is a soft Schrump leather which is
grippy, secure, and durable. We have added lots of D-Rings so you can
bring your lunch, your sponge or what have you.

The Trumbull Mtn. Equinox II
-Has had the stirrup bar moved back 1/2" to improve the rider's balance
and has had an extra layer of foam added to the seat for additional
cushioning. It
is available in black or havana brown, in sizes 16.5" - 18" with
medium, wide or
extra wide tree. Other sizes available by special order.

BLACK COUNTRY WEXFORD
This is the “armchair”
of all-purpose saddles. The Wexford’s wide, deep seat makes it great for
flat work, and the knee and calf blocks offer security and correct
position over fences. It offers the balance, confidence and comfort
you’ll need, whether you’re eventing, following the hunt field, or just
enjoying the trails. We had Black Country add dee rings on the right and
a tab on the tree point so a point billet can be added. Generously broad,
wool-flocked, gusseted panels and a wide channel offer a good fit for even
the widest backs. We’re stocking the Wexford in Havana brown printed
Vintage leather, 17” – 18” seats, medium and wide trees. Other sizes and
options available by special order.
