As many of you know....nothing feels quite as wonderful as getting back on your beloved horse after a long lay off.  Yea! My foot has healed and I'm back on Rianon! (How can a 16 year old act like a green horse, I wonder?) I feel like we're getting a late start on conditioning, but I think with some diligence we'll be ready for the Crooked River 30 mile CTR.

With the economy as it is and with some financial disasters in my life......I took a long hard look at competing this year. Can I really afford this? We've all been there.  We think about the gas money, entry fees, animal care for those we leave behind, time lost from work, supplements and shots, looming truck repairs (I could go on) BUT....and it's a big but.....then I think about the pure joy of riding mile after mile, seeing my riding buddies, camping with my mare, and yes, even the packing and unpacking......and I think I HAVE GOT TO DO THIS!!! I would so miss the feeling of exhilaration and competence that comes with completing a ride. So what if I eat pasta and peas for a month and forgo anything but the bare necessities! As long as Rianon is sound and happy I'll somehow make it work.

Once I get the season's tentative schedule firmed up I'll post it...in case any of you need me to bring a saddle to a ride...or check fit on your current saddle.

Check out the new Black Country Celeste on our website. We have two in the shop right now and you'll find them under Used/Demo A/P and Endurance. Black Country has used the same tree as the Equinox tree....so it will fit a wide flat Arab/Morgan type, but has made it a dual rather than mono flap...and it has leather panels. Plus, it's less expensive. I rode in it and find it really comfortable. If anyone out there would like a test ride I'd be happy for some feedback.

While most of you know Trumbull Mountain for our Black Country Equinox we also sell the Frank Baines Enduro LDR. Frank has made some wonderful changes on the new LDR including an exterior block that his both soft and supporting.  We stock it in Buffalo which is both grippy and durable....and so beautiful. It has slightly more curve to the tree than the Equinox.  Baines makes them the LDR with long billets exclusively for Trumbull Mountain.

We've started to see a few used Equinox saddles come in for consignment, and have  also lowered the price on a few of our demos - so check out our website to see if one may work for you and your horse. It's always better to take a wither tracing and a conformation photo of your horse first and mail them to me.  I can keep them on file and if something perfect comes in on consignment I can match the tracings to the saddle and see if it will work.

If you need a good fitting saddle for your wide horse and just can't afford the over $2000 models....take a look at the Duett Companion Trail.  It has  a very wide gullet channel and a great flat weight baring surface.  It has a wider twist than the the Equinox and the Baines which some of you may prefer.

As we continue to fit our Black Country Equinox to many different horses we found the need to offer yet more options.  Although many Arabians and Morgans have fairly table top backs, there are some of them, as well as other breeds, who have backs that dip up slightly. For those horses we've designed the "swept up" panel. For those riders who are vertically challenged we can not only offer you a shorter flap, but we can also change the angle and size of the knee block to accommodate your shorter thigh.  Obviously we can make similar changes for taller riders. We've also encountered some horses with slight dips on either side of their withers....for those bodies we now offer front gussets which are little tear drop shaped additions to the panels meant to fill in those dips. The best part is that all these options come with no additional charge.  All we need is a wither tracing and photos.

For those of you within driving distance of our shop we offer our saddle fitting expert's services and the use of our indoor or outdoor arena plus our beautiful trails. It's a great way to spend the day with your horse and get the perfect fit.  Of course, we still offer our 7 day trial policy on all our saddles, and we ship all over the U.S.  There are easy to follow wither tracing instructions on our website to help us send you a saddle that will work for you and your horse.

Remember, we still offer 10% off on all your fittings when you by a saddle from us. Our Equinox Skito pad, Bates webbers, EZ ride stirrups, our humane end girth and a Zilco "outfit" will complete your CTR and endurance needs.

I'm always happy to answer any of your saddle fitting  questions so please don't hesitate to call or email.

I really hope to see you all at some rides this summer or fall.

Ride Happy and remember to appreciate each and every moment we spend with our equine partners

Nancy

Our saddle trial policy is both simple and risk free. We invite you to try any of our saddles, new or used for one week before you make your decision to buy. At Trumbull Mt Tack our sole mission is to help you find the perfect saddle for both you and your horse. Simply call us at 800-442-9672 and tell us which of our saddles you would like to try. We will ask you for your credit card and shipping information. We will bill your card for the cost of the saddle and $35.00 shipping and handling. When you receive your saddle feel free to put your fittings on it and ride in it for one week. If you decide a saddle isn't quite right for you for any reason, just ship it back to us and when we receive it we will credit your card for all but the $35.00 shipping fee.
