A Call for Help (Updated)

It’s common knowledge that the horse world is a very supportive and tightly-knit community. You’ll see riders helping each other out at shows and clinics, cheering each other on, crewing and grooming for each other and offering advice and support. In that spirit, it’s time to come together to support one of our own. Susan Berrill, a prominent event and dressage trainer and competitor, well known in Areas 1 and 2, had a tragic accident at the King Oak Horse Trials on Saturday, September 11. She is currently hospitalized and will be unable to work for quite some time. First, we would like to coordinate with trainers and barn owners to host a series of shows and clinic days to benefit Sue. In addition, we are holding a dinner/silent auction to augment this show and clinic benefit series. We are encouraging people that are unable to offer clinics or shows to donate items or services to the auction, possible ideas include: farrier visits, real estate rentals, and show entries, as well as retail products. Businesses that donate to the auction will receive special recognition at the event. Monetary donations will also be accepted and will be placed into a special account set up for Sue’s medical expenses as well as her living expenses while she recuperates. If you are able to offer a clinic please let us know what dates you could consider. We would like to fit in as many clinic and show offers as possible without creating scheduling conflicts. Please do everything you can to help and thank you in advance for your consideration of our efforts!
